The Swiss National Bank issued Swiss Franc banknotes in 6 different denominations, including this 1000 Swiss Francs banknote. They are part of the withdrawn Swiss Franc banknotes series. The Swiss National Bank started issuing these 1000 Swiss Franc banknotes in 1978. They were withdrawn from circulation in 2000.

The bill of mille francs – mille franchi has the image of Auguste Forel, Swiss myrmecologist. Text on the paper banknote reads ‘Banque Nationale Suisse – Banca Naziunala Svizzera’.
